Nissan Rogue vs Honda CR-V

 Nissan Rogue

Honda CR-V

Whether you call them compact crossovers or compact SUVs, these vehicles are growing in popularity. They handle more like a car than a full size SUV, but offer a taller ride height and more storage space than you get in a full size sedan. The Nissan Rogue and Honda CR-V are both top sellers in this class.  We wanted to see what independent review sites are saying about how they compare.

The Honda CR-V ranked #1 - out of 18 SUVs - according to U.S. News and Report's Best Compact SUVs ranking. The CRV scored 8.6 compared to the #6 Rogue's score of 8.2. Close scores, but their consensus is the CR-V is the best.

U.S. News & Word Report points out in their article Nissan Rogue vs. Honda CR-V: What's the Best Crossover SUV? that both vehicles are noted for being  "top selling models" and available as front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.  The article goes on to say: "When it comes to performance the CR-V outshines the Rogue. Automotive journalists note that acceleration, steering, cornering and braking feel stronger and more enjoyable in the Honda. The Rouge still offers still offers a smooth ride, but generally feels underpowered in comparison.  Fuel economy is also slightly better in the CR-V."

In 2016 Nissan Rogue vs. 2016 Honda CR-V: Compare Cars the Car Connection reported similar results and gave the Honda CR-V the top rank: an 8.0, compared to the Rogue's 7.6.  "We'd call the Honda the winner here, for it's superior passenger comfort, better safety ratings and somewhat better drivability," noted the Car Connection.
