What Is New for 2027

Honda’s 2027 Odyssey feature guide describes the same core hardware as the 2026 guide: the 3.5-liter V6, the 10-speed automatic, the 12.8-inch rear entertainment screen on the top two trims, and the Honda Sensing® suite on every trim.

The change Honda’s own guides point to is upholstery. For 2026, Honda describes every Odyssey trim as leather-trimmed. For 2027, the EX-L and Sport-L move to HondaTex-trimmed synthetic leather, while the Touring and Elite keep leather-trimmed seating. If seat material matters to you, the easiest way to compare is to sit in one.

Honda also notes that the 2026 Odyssey received a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and Honda says the 2027 model is expected to receive the same rating.

Space, Seating, and Cargo

Flexibility is the Odyssey’s main idea. Honda builds it around two seating features that every trim shares:

  • Magic Slide® second-row seats with armrests and a walk-in feature, so passengers can reach the third row more easily
  • One-motion 60/40 split third-row Magic Seat®, which folds away to open up cargo room
  • A multi-function second-row center seat for the eighth seating position

Honda also says the Odyssey can carry 4-foot by 8-foot sheet stock with the second-row seats removed. Power sliding doors and a power tailgate with programmable height are standard, which helps when your hands are full.

Seating setup Standard (cu ft) Max (cu ft)

Behind the second row 86.6 91.0
Behind the first row 140.7 155.8 (155.7 on Touring and Elite)

Third-row passengers get 38.3 inches of headroom and 38.1 inches of legroom, according to Honda’s specifications. For families with car seats, Honda lists LATCH lower anchors at all second-row positions and the outboard third-row positions, plus tether anchors at all second-row and third-row positions. Every trim also has a tri-zone automatic climate control system with second-row controls, rear-seat heater ducts, and USB-C charging ports in all three rows.

Technology and Safety

Connected features for the whole cabin

Every Odyssey has a 9-inch color touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility, and a wireless phone charger. The CabinTalk® in-car PA system is also standard, so the driver can speak to the rear rows through the speakers without turning around. On the Touring and Elite, CabinWatch® shows the second and third rows on the front touchscreen, and a 12.8-inch rear entertainment screen gives back-row passengers something to watch.

Honda Sensing on every trim

Every 2027 Odyssey includes the Honda Sensing® suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies:

  • Collision Mitigation Braking System™ with Advanced Pedestrian Detection
  • Road Departure Mitigation System
  • Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning
  • Lane Keeping Assist System
  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow
  • Traffic Sign Recognition System
  • Blind Spot Information System and Cross Traffic Monitor
  • Auto High-Beam Headlights

Beyond Honda Sensing, every Odyssey has front, front side, and three-row side curtain airbags with a rollover sensor, plus knee airbags for the driver and front passenger. A Rear Seat Reminder, child-proof rear door locks, and Tire Fill Assist are standard too.

Honda Sensing® features are driver-assistive and do not replace safe, attentive driving. The driver remains responsible for the vehicle’s operation. Features have limitations and may not work in all conditions; see the Owner’s Manual for details. Apple CarPlay is a trademark of Apple Inc. Android Auto is a trademark of Google LLC. Phone compatibility and connectivity vary. NHTSA 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score applies to the 2026 model year; the 2027 rating is expected, per Honda.

How the Trims Differ

Honda offers the 2027 Odyssey in four trims: EX-L, Sport-L, Touring, and Elite. The powertrain, seating layout, Honda Sensing suite, and fuel economy are the same across all four, so the differences come down to comfort, technology, and styling.

  • EX-L and Sport-L: HondaTex-trimmed seats, with 18-inch machine-finished alloy wheels on the EX-L and 19-inch gloss black alloy wheels on the Sport-L.
  • Touring: leather-trimmed seats, 19-inch gray alloy wheels, the 12.8-inch rear entertainment screen, CabinWatch, built-in navigation, Wi-Fi® hotspot capability, parking sensors, and third-row sunshades.
  • Elite: perforated leather-trimmed seats and the Touring technology, plus ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a 500-watt premium audio system with 11 speakers, rain-sensing wipers, and a hands-free power tailgate.

Ask us which trim fits your family, and we can walk through the differences in person at the dealership.

Feature availability varies by trim. Wi-Fi is a registered trademark of Wi-Fi Alliance. Connected services and Wi-Fi hotspot capability may require a compatible plan or subscription.

Who the Odyssey Fits

  • Larger families and carpool drivers. Eight seating positions and sliding second-row seats make loading and unloading easier.
  • Multi-generational households. The walk-in feature on the second-row seats helps passengers reach the third row.
  • Road-trip families. If your weekends include the drive up the Cajon Pass or a trip to Big Bear, rear entertainment, charging ports in every row, and a cabin PA system keep the back rows connected.
  • Anyone who hauls gear. With the third row folded and the second row positioned for cargo, Honda lists up to 155.8 cubic feet of space.

Honest Limits

The Odyssey is a strong family vehicle, but it is not the right tool for every job.

  • Front-wheel drive only. Honda does not offer all-wheel drive on the 2027 Odyssey. Intelligent Traction Management with a Snow Mode is standard, but always drive for the conditions.
  • No hybrid option. Every 2027 Odyssey has the V6 and a combined EPA rating of 22 mpg. If fuel economy is your top priority, ask us about Honda’s hybrid models.
  • Modest towing. Honda lists a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 lbs, so check your trailer weight against the Owner’s Manual first.
  • It is a big vehicle. At 205.2 inches long, it needs room to park and maneuver. Measure your garage and test it on your usual routes.
